Decentraland Announces Metaverse Music Festival for November

Decentraland has announced that a slew of artists, including Ozzy Osbourne and Soulja Boy, will be crankin' dat on its platform in November for the Decentraland XOZ Metaverse Festival. The inaugural event in 2021 claimed over 50,000 unique attendees over its

The festival, which is set to take place from November 10-13, will feature over 100 artists from around the world, according to a press release on Monday. This year's event will focus particularly on music, and will showcase some of the latest advances in technology. This year's festival is set to be even bigger than last year's, which was a huge success. Previous year's festival was attended by over 50,000 unique users from over 150 different countries.

Decentraland also mentioned that it will be demonstrating some of the latest advances in technology, such as its new motion capture technology. It's all thanks to its partnership with Move.ai, which will allow users to use motion capture without wearing any pesky suits. Kinetix.tech also wants to help creators bring their NFTs to life by using nothing more than a simple smartphone camera. Decentraland has been criticized in the past for its lack of content, but this festival is sure to change that. Fans of music and decentralization are sure to have a ton of fun.

Hacktober: hackers strike again, this time targeting BitKeep wallet

The popular multichain wallet BitKeep recently fell victim to a hack, losing over $1 million to the attacker. Blockchain security company PeckShield first detected the hack on October 17, and BitKeep confirmed it later that same day. The security company urged users to revoke any approvals they had given in order to prevent further damage. Despite successfully containing the hack and preventing further losses, BitKeep has decided to temporarily suspend its swap service in order to prevent future attacks.

The BitKeep team also announced that it would be working to reimburse victims of the hack and promised a handsome reward for anyone with information about the hacker.  “BitKeep sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused. We will cooperate with security agencies in the industry to strengthen the security of BitKeep Swap and ensure the safety of users’ assets.” the team said in a statement.

With all the recent hacks in the space, some crypto community members started calling October "Hacktober", as several popular services and platforms were attacked during the month. It is quite clear that we need to do more to improve blockchain security, and until then we will continue to see these hack attacks time and time again. Hopefully, with increased awareness and improved security measures, Hacktober doesn't become Hackvermber.

Aptos, a blockchain previously abandoned by Facebook is live on mainnet

Aptos, which originated from the Facebook blockchain initiative Libra, is now live on mainnet. Despite only seeing a few maintenance messages by validators so far, user transactions are expected to begin soon.

Critics have praised Aptos for its developer-friendly Move coding language, which offers unique safeguards for asset management and is considered more user-friendly than other blockchain platforms.

Aptos has a strong focus on user experience, upgradeability, and state-of-the-art technology. That’s why it has already seen a lot of interest from developers, who are excited about the platform’s many unique features.

Will it succeed in attracting mainstream users? Facebook maybe failed with Libra, but Aptos might be able to attract more users with its innovative approach and focus on user experience. We’ll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Regardless of its success, the blockchain space is constantly evolving and getting more competitive. With other platforms already well established, Aptos will need to continue innovating in order to stay relevant. That's the good news though - competition always forces developers to push boundaries and create better, more user-friendly platforms. So even if Aptos doesn't win, we're all winners in the end. And that's what really matters.
