Do Kwon is on the run - Interpol might issuse a red notice to apprehend him
The co-founder of Terraform Labs, Do Kwon, is currently on the run from South Korean authorities. Prosecutors have asked Interpol to issue a red notice against Do Kwon in connection with the terraUSD crash that caused a decoupling from the UST stablecoin.
Do Kwon is believed to be hiding out in an undisclosed location, and authorities have not been able to locate him. Some Korean media outlets have stated that the co-founder of Terraform Labs is "on the run." Do Kwon has debunked this statement, saying that he is not running away from anyone and is trying to protect himself.
Korean prosecutors suspect that Do Kwon might have had a role in the terraUSD crash. They also believe that he might have destroyed evidence that could incriminate him. Do Kwon has denied all allegations against him, saying that he is innocent.
The prosecutor's office said that Kwon had not cooperated with the investigation, which is why they have begun the procedure of placing him on the Interpol red notice list and revoking his passport.
A red notice is an international arrest warrant that is issued by Interpol at the request of a member state. If Do Kwon is placed on the red notice list, he will be arrested if he tries to leave South Korea.
Do Kwon is wanted for his suspected involvement in a network of fraudulent money transfers. Korean authorities are now doing all possible to find and arrest him, although they have not yet been successful. They think Do Kwon isn't the only one who has gone missing because Terra's key financial employees also departed at the same time.
What can I say? The plot thickens.
Alt season is in play, according to Blockchain Center
According to Blockchain Center data, as of September 19, 69% of the top 50 coins have outperformed BTC in the last 90 days, highlighting that 'altcoin season' is in play.
This is great news for those of us who have been hodling altcoins for the last few years, waiting for the day when they would once again rise to prominence.
So are we in the "alt season"? Well, if you go by the Blockchain Center Altcoin Season Index, then yes, we are in an alt season. According to their index, an alt season is declared once 75% of the top 50 coins perform better than BTC over three months. ETH, LIDO and CHZ have all been performing quite well, while BTC has been losing value. LIDO was even declared the highest performing altcoin, with a 222.4% gain in the past 90 days.
But of course, this is all just according to some index and not everyone may agree with it. However, if you're looking to invest in altcoins, then this could be a good time to do so. Who knows how long this alt season will last?
Jack Daniels joins the metaverse race
It seems like every day, another big company announces that they're getting into the metaverse. The latest is Jack Daniel's, who has filed for trademarks on virtual beverages, barware, clothing, digital wallets, and collectibles.
A trademark was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on September 9, according to a tweet from licensed trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.
We can only assume that they'll be selling NFT-authenticated media as well. It's just a natural fit for a company that's all about authenticity and tradition.
The company is one of the latest to attempt to take a stake in the metaverse, with other notable brands including Mars Inc (with its M&M's brand) and McDonald's also attempting to get a piece of the virtual pie.
It remains to be seen whether Jack Daniel's will be successful in its bid to enter the metaverse, but one thing's for sure: the world is changing, and big companies are taking notice. Whether they'll be able to keep up with the ever-evolving landscape remains to be seen. In the end, we're not sure what virtual whiskey tastes like, but we're sure it will be just as smooth as the real thing. At least you don't need your ID to get drinks in the metaverse, so that's something.
