Metamask adds direct fiat onramps to its Portfolio dApp

Metamask wallet has added a "buy crypto" function to their portfolio dApp, allowing users to purchase crypto with their fiat. The new feature will make it easier for users to purchase crypto, as long as they are located in one of the 189 countries Metamask serves. The users will be able to do this via a variety of payment methods, such as debit/credit cards, PayPal, bank transfers and even instant ACH.

The feature supports more than 90 tokens across eight different networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Fantom, Optimism, and Celo. Metamask sure doesn't have the perfect UI/UX but at least they keep on devving, onboarding new crypto users has always been hard, but hopefully this feature will make it easier for newcomers to get into the crypto space.

Web3 gaming space is growing despite the market slowdown

GameFi adoption has been slowing down lately, whether due to the market conditions or some other reason. But, strangely enough, the amount of money invested in Web3 gaming still managed to grow by 12.95% - despite the 8.58% decrease in the number of unique active wallets recorded during this period.

According to DappRadar, gaming still leads the way in terms of dApp investing and usage, and Web3 gaming dominance doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Polygon MATIC chain has been the star of the show, recording a 29% growth in UAW numbers, and increasing the overall number to 122,000 from 94,000 recorded in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, BNB Chain (BNB) has been the loser in this Q1 competition, with a 36% decrease in UAW numbers from 138,000 to 87,000. Finally, KLAY managed to establish a firm ground as a gaming blockchain by increasing its UAW count to 15,000 during the first three months of the year. The total amount of money invested in the Web3 gaming space during the period was $739 million, which marks a 13% increase from the $654 million collected in the fourth quarter of 2022.

It looks like the Web3 gaming space is getting more attention from investors, and it's showing no signs of slowing down. With the growing number of users, dapps, and money invested in this sector, it's safe to expect that Web3 gaming will continue to dominate the dApp landscape in the coming years.

Coinbase has plans to integrate BTC Lightning network

BTC's L2 may have not been as popular as some other chains out there, but in the future this might change. Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong, recently tweeted that the “Lightning is great and something we’ll integrate.”

Brian failed to provide details about the integration process or when it could be expected, yet this finally does allow BTC maxis to boast that someone is paying attention.

Non-EVM chains didn't get as much love during the last bull run, so we can only hope that Coinbase integration will open the doors for more of these blockchain networks to be utilized.
