NFTs over text messages?

Redeem, a blockchain agnostic connectivity layer, has raised $2.5 million in order to bring phone numbers into the world of web3. But not in the way you might think – they want to, apparently, send NFTs over text messages.

The way it's going to work is that users are going to have an additional software layer, embedded in the messaging services, which will allow them to send and receive NFTs to and from their contacts. As a B2B company, Redeem is going to aim its product at businesses, so that they can offer NFTs as rewards, for example. Or spam you with such offers. We'll see!

In any case as the adoption of new technologies is always a slow process, Redeem has decided to go for the most “familiar” way: texting, so it might just work. Plus, they have a prototype running already, which allows individuals to claim an NFT by scanning a QR code.

Snoop Dogg promotes a crypto casino platform

Snoop Dogg, a man who needs no introduction, is still promoting crypto stuff. This time though, he's teamed up with Roobet, a crypto casino game platform.

“These guys are doing something different," Snoop said in a press release. It's not exactly true because how different can a crypto casino be? But hey, it's Snoop Dogg, so most people won't probably care.

Snoop isn't new to the world of crypto, he promoted and released plenty of NFTs, worked to promote various platforms and he even invested in a few projects. Celebrities have been doing it for years and if you're Snoop Dogg, why not do the same?

Some among the crypto community might be asking why he's promoting something so controversial like a crypto casino. But the answer is simple, money talks and it's probably for a nice fat paycheck.

Mt. Gox creditors finally to receive repayments

For years, Mt. Gox creditors have been waiting with bated breath for their long overdue repayments. After years of anticipation, it appears that their prayers may finally be answered - starting this month.

The creditors will finally start receiving payments on March 10, with a deadline of September 30 for the first tranche of repayments. While this news is certainly welcomed by Mt. Gox creditors, the crypto community can’t help but fear that it will cause a major influx of Bitcoin to the market (aka the mt Gox FUD).

To receive the funds, creditors had to register with a crypto exchange and nominate it to receive the funds on their behalf. Payments will be made in a mix of crypto - bitcoin and bitcoin cash - and fiat money, Yen in particular. The first 200,000 Yen worth of each creditor’s claim will be paid in Yen as well. If their claim is greater than this amount and they choose crypto and cash, they will receive a mix of around 71% crypto and 29% cash after the initial payment. Will it cause a major dump or will the market be able to absorb the extra supply? Nothing we can do but wait and see.
