Konvoy Ventures creates a $150 million fund to invest in web3 gaming

Konvoy Ventures, the Denver-based gaming VC, has raised $150 million for a new gaming fund. The fund will invest 20%-30% of its assets in blockchain and crypto-related games. Konvoy now boasts over $270 million in assets under management and has invested in 33 projects to date.

"The games industry is at an inflection point," said Konvoy co-founder and managing partner Zac Ziebolz in a statement. "The rise of web3 technologies presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build the next generation of hit games." Konvoy's portfolio includes hits like-crypto kitties and Gods Unchained.

The news comes as the gaming industry is experiencing a boom thanks to the popularity of cryptocurrency and blockchain games. With Konvoy's new fund, the VC is positioning itself to be a major player in this rapidly growing sector.

Ethereum merge trials are a success

Ethereum's much-anticipated move to proof-of-stake is off to a great start, with the Sepolia testnet successfully completing its transition today. This leaves just one more Ethereum testnet to go before the entire network completes the Merge. The Ethereum Merge, a long-awaited update to the network, is expected to happen this year. With successful trials like these, it looks like Ethereum is on track to make a big splash in the world of proof-of-stake. Congratulations, Ethereum team! We can't wait to see what you achieve next.

Ethereum educator Anthony Sassano, who hosted the Sepolia Merge livestream on YouTube on Wednesday tweeted: “Thanks to everyone who watched the Sepolia merge Livestream!!The Sepolia merge transition went through successfully (and the chain finalized!) so now it's time for monitoring over the next few days. Then we merge Goerli......then mainnet The Merge is coming “

Crema Finance hacker returns $6 million worth of stolen crypto

Crema Finance, a concentrated liquidity protocol on Solana, suffered from a flash loan exploit on Sunday. The losses amounted to 69,422.9 SOL and 6,497,738 USDC stablecoin, roughly $9 million at the time of the hack. According to an update from Crema Finance, the attacker has returned the stolen funds following a negotiation. He returned most of the funds in exchange for the white hat bounty of approximately $2 million. Not much is known about the Crema Finance hacker, but one thing is for sure: they're not a very good thief. After all, why would you return $6 million worth of stolen crypto? Maybe they felt bad about taking advantage of a protocol with lax security measures. Or maybe they realized that they're not cut out for a life of crime. Either way, we applaud the Crema Finance hacker for their honesty (albeit begrudgingly) and hope that they find a more honest way to make a living in the future.
